DOE Clean Energy Manufacturing Initiative: Rust Turns Green? by sustainabilitypepper

The U.S. Department of Energy recently announced that it has launched a “Clean Energy Manufacturing Initiative.”  This is a combined effort of the DOE Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy and DOE Advanced Manufacturing Office. EPA, the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia (by a 6 to 2 vote) rejected petitions seeking to rehear en banc a three judge panel’s unanimous per curiam decision to uphold the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Air Act (CAA) greenhouse gas “tailoring” rule. $20 Million DOE Funding Announced for Concentrating Solar Power Technology by sustainabilitypepper

On December 17, the Department of Energy announced the availability of $20 million in new funding for projects designed to integrate Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) systems with fossil fuel power plants. CSP technology involves a hybrid approach, in which solar-generated electricity is integrated into the infrastructure of existing fossil fuel plants, reducing costs and bringing new solar power on line more quickly. The new funding will support two to four projects and is part of DOE’s Sunshot program. (more…)
