Executive Order 13514, Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance, signed on October 5, 2009, [https://www1.eere.energy.gov/femp/regulations/eo13514.html] has pushed the General Services Administration, which owns or operates nearly 500,000 buildings, to the forefront of the green building revolution.  E.O. 13514 sets numerous Federal energy requirements in several areas, including:  accountability and transparency, strategic sustainability performance planning, greenhouse gas management, sustainable buildings and communities, water efficiency, electronic products and services, fleet and transportation management , and pollution prevention and waste reduction. 

The Security & Sustainability Forum is hosting a free webinar on July 29, 2010 from 2:15-3:45 EDT entitled “What are GSA’s 2011 Green Building Priorities? Learn the Top Ten Opportunities—from procurement to technology.”  The webinar will explore trends and requirements in GSA’s green building methods and approaches, opportunities in procurement, innovative technologies and R&D patterns to watch, as well as effective management methodologies.  The panel will be moderated by Karla Perri, Principal of The Spectrum Group.  At this time, panelists include Kevin Kampschroer, Director of the Office of Federal High-Performance Green Buildings, GSA.
